DIRECTOR IMAGING SERVICES
The Director - Imaging Services oversees administrative operation of the Imaging Science program (BS) within the College of Health Sciences and within Hospital Operations for Clinical Activities. Supports the Rush mission, vision, values and practitioner-teacher tradition. Provides leadership in faculty activities such as research, course direction, and curriculum planning. Coordinates faculty and staff professional development.

Job Standards:
A. Supports the mission, vision, goals and strategic objectives of the college, university and medical center.
B. Maintains/improves the quality of the educational programs offered, as demonstrated by program outcomes and rankings (where available).
C. Maintains/improves the quality of the clinical and support service activities provided by the programs.
D. Develops and maintains an effective research program within the discipline.
E. Maintains financial integrity of the programs.
F. Supports professional, community and continuing education service activities within the programs.
G. Provides for faculty and staff development and a positive and productive work environment.
H. Promotes diversity within the program, college and university.

Program Administration
Overall Programmatic Operation:
1. Reports to the Dean, College of Health Sciences for all academic activities of the programs.
2. Establishes goals and objectives for all programmatic functions.
3. Is responsible for the organization of the programs, for the quality and efficient progress of the work of the programs, and for the execution of the Medical Center responsibilities, University, and College policies insofar as they affect the programs.
4. Is accountable for the professional activities of each program faculty member as such activities relate to the programs.
5. Fosters intraprogram communication through regular faculty meetings and frequent consultation with the faculty of the programs.
6. Fosters extra- program communication throughout the Medical Center on issues involving the programs.
7. Assures compliance with institutional, state, federal, and professional agency regulations and accrediting agency standards.
8. Ensures compliance with the Rules of Governance of Rush University and the Policies and Procedures of the College of Health Sciences by all members of the program faculty.
9. Participates in and develops community service programs of the imaging sciences program.
10. Assumes other duties related to the program director role as assigned by the Dean of the College of Health Sciences.

Faculty/Staff
1. Defines the appropriate number of faculty/staff necessary to accomplish the defined goals and objectives of the program.
2. Establishes the optimal mix of faculty activities in the areas of education, research and administration in a manner that allows for accomplishment of programmatic goals and objectives and recognizes the various specialties, expertise and career objectives of each faculty member.
3. Maintains a committed faculty through a recruitment program which will promote diversity among members in the pursuit of excellence in practice, education, and research.
4. Responsible for faculty and staff evaluation and development.

Budget and Finance
1. Defines and assures availability of resources (such as space, equipment, technical and clerical support) necessary to support the program.
2. Makes recommendations to the Dean annually regarding the program budget and manages the program within the approved budget.
3. Develops sources of non-operational revenues such as endowments, grants, contracts and gifts.

Educational Programs

A. Provides oversight for the educational program including:
1. Marketing of programs and recruitment and selection of a diverse student body.
2. Maintaining standards in all educational activities to include specialized programmatic accreditation and compliance with institutional, state, federal, and professional agency regulation and accreditation standards.
3. Advising students.
4. Presenting candidates for the degree of B.S. in Imaging Sciences.
B. Leads and provides oversight for development and evaluation of curricula.
C. Actively participates in the program teaching.
D. Develops continuing education and outreach programs appropriate to the program goals and objectives.

Clinical Programs
A. Serves as a liaison to the operations vice president, or designee regarding clinical programs and operational activities.
B. Assures the coordination of all clinical activities of the programs, appoints appropriate clinical leadership roles within the programs, and assures appropriate supervision of program members and students.
C. Assures coordination of clinical and operational activities of the programs with administration and with other appropriate departments and programs.
D. Assures the maintenance of program databases and the production of regular reports related to activities of the programs and its members.
E. Assures the development of operational and capital budgets for the operational and clinical activities of the programs.
F. Establishes and maintains appropriate clinical affiliate sites for students.

Research Programs
A. Defines and directs the role of the programs in research matters and ensures implementation of these activities.
B. Reviews all grant applications and research proposals emanating from the programs with respect to appropriateness of purpose.
C. Promotes evidence-based practice and research and the generation and dissemination of new knowledge in the field.

Requirements:
A. An earned master's degree in imaging sciences, health sciences, education, management or in a related field; An earned doctorate in a field appropriate to providing academic leadership for the imaging sciences programs is preferred.
B. At least four years of experience in the field, at least two of which must have been on the faculty of an accredited radiologic sciences educational program.
C. Demonstrated abilities in teaching, research and scholarship, student advisement, committee service, management, and administration.
D. Active in relevant professional associations; demonstrated leadership role in organizations or societies external to Rush University related to the profession.
E. Substantial experience in the clinical practice of imaging sciences.
F. Must be eligible for licensure as a radiologic technologist in the State of Illinois and have the registered radiologic technologist credential from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
