ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Rush University College of Nursing, Department of WCFN has a faculty position opening for specialty coordinator of the neonatal nurse practitioner program. Specialty coordinators are responsible for the oversight of program admissions, coursework, certification and accreditation reports, and all other duties pertaining to the program as identified. They also teach NNP specialty content and core courses as determined. Specialty coordinators collaborate with College leadership to contribute to the mission, vision , values, and strategic goals of the College of Nursing. The successful candidate will report to the Chairperson of WCFN and work closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Applicants must be doctorally prepared (DNP or PhD) and nationally certified as an NNP. An established area of research interest is preferred.
The successful applicant will work with a diverse mix of educators, clinician, scholars, and scientists in the department of Women, Children, and Family Nursing (WCFN). Many faculty follow the rich Rush tradition of the practitioner/teacher model and provide leadership in medical center activities. Faculty have received numerous awards and recognition from local, regional, and national organizations for their outstanding work in clinical practice, curriculum design, innovative education, and research. Faculty are leaders in prominent state and national organizations and programs dedicated to improving the care of women, children, and families.
Education:

Directs the learning of students in clinical and classroom settings.
Participates in the student advisement process.
Contributes to College and University student recruitment and marketing efforts.
Contributes to the development and evaluation of responsive curriculum.
Supports and facilitates a culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse educational environment.
Supports and, when appropriate, contributes to the Medical Center wide interdisciplinary programs.

Research:

Generates grants and conducts research.
Applies research findings in own practice and teaching.
Facilitates research activities of students, colleagues, and members of related disciplines.
Disseminates research based knowledge through publications and presentations.

Practice:

Functions as an expert clinician in area(s) of specialization.
Supports continuous quality improvement in patient/client care.
Supports faculty practice through expression of clinical expertise via consultation, education, research or practice within and outside of the Medical Center.

Leadership:

Supports and facilitates the goals of Rush University, the college, and clinical setting.
Participates in departmental, and college strategic planning and decision making, and evaluation.
Participates in and supports a faculty governance structure.
Supports and practices university/corporate team philosophy.
Supports a continuous quality improvement and cost effective environment.
Supports cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity within the College of Nursing.
Participates in the College of Nursing Evaluation program.

Qualifications include:

Doctoral preparation in Nursing or related field preferred

At least two years of experience in clinical nursing practice

Current licensure in the State of Illinois
