Assistant Professor

Position Highlights:

This position is for a doctoral prepared, certified Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP) who will be responsible for coordinating and teaching the research courses and research methods seminars offered by the department. The Assistant Professor will actively conduct research and publish in scientific journals and be involved with the development of the Master of Science and Ph.D. degree research projects and course development. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

• Develops and research courses, seminars and other research content with the discipline of MLS in accordance with national accreditation standards.

• Coordinates and mentors graduate students in the development and publication of their research projects

• Promotes evidence-based practice, research and the generation and dissemination of new knowledge in the field.

• Assists in the recruitment of qualified students into the program.

• Works on departmental, college and university committees.

• Interacts with the other graduate level programs.

• Supports professional, community and continuing education service activities within the programs.

• Performs administrative tasks as assigned by the Department Chairman.

• Supports the mission, vision, goals and strategic objectives of the college, university and medical center.

Position Qualifications Include:

• Ph.D. degree in a related scientific field.

• National certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist: MLS (ASCP).

• Track record of research productivity and peer-reviewed publications.

• Working knowledge of research methods and procedures as well as national educational trends

• Excellent skills in classroom and laboratory instruction.

• Knowledge and experience with Web-based education.
