Rush University Medical Center is a tertiary-care academic medical center located in Chicago’s west loop. Rush Nursing has received for three consecutive terms the distinguished Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center. RUMC is currently constructing a 14-floor, 841,000-square-foot hospital. The new hospital is scheduled to open in 2012 and is the centerpiece of a $1 billion, 10-year campus redevelopment plan called the Rush Transformation.
We are currently seeking (1) APN/NP HEART FAILURE, HEART TRANSPLANT, AND MECHANICAL CIRCULATORY DEVICE COORDINATOR.
The AP/NP coordinator collaborates with transplant cardiologists, and is responsible for the evaluation, assessment, education, long-term care and follow-up of patients who are being evaluated for cardiac transplant and/or mechanical circulatory support, listed cardiac transplant candidates awaiting a suitable donor, cardiac transplant recipients; and coordinates cardiac donor procurement.
REQUIREMENTS: Successful candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold APN or NP Illinois license. Three years’ experience in nursing, extensive background in the care of cardiac patients, and at least one year of experience providing direct patient care for advanced heart failure, and/or heart transplant, and/or mechanical circulatory support devices are required. Certification by the American Board for Transplant as Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC), or Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC), or Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN), is desirable but not required.
