Coordinator Community Outreach Alzheimer's Disease Center

Job Location: Chicago, IL

Position Highlights:

The Coordinator develops and implements recruitment plans and supporting educational activities for the specific Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center (RADC) research activities, as assigned by the Director(s) of the Recruitment and Education Committee

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates internal and external educational activities and programs to support recruitment initiatives and goals of the education committee.

  • Working in collaboration with community partners and other members of the Recruitment & Education Committee, develops, provides, and updates education needs for individuals with memory concerns and their families and health care providers serving these individuals. Special emphasis will be placed on educational programs and services that may enhance recruitment and retention in RADC research activities

  • Nurtures relationships between the RADC and other community groups in the Chicago-land area with a mutual interest in the research, education, and care of individuals with memory difficulties and their families.

  • For specific recruitment and education projects, develops outcome measures for activity success and collects necessary outcome data.

  • Foster research participant retention by conducting Quarterly follow-up calls to participants and research sites.

Position Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social science or related field; Master’s degree in social work, psychology, education or health related field is preferred and a minimum of two years experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and their families or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience where the required knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills necessary to build mutually beneficial relationships with a diverse group of people including health care professions, caregivers, research participants, and RADC staff.

  • Must enjoy working with older adults and their families.

  • High level skills in planning and coordinating recruitment and education programs.

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to use PowerPoint

  • Extensive local travel required, out of state travel as needed

  • Must be fluent in English/Spanish communication and written skills, this is a requirement for this position.
