Research Tech 3 Orthopedic Surgery

The Research Tech designs and performs research experiments under the guidance of Principal Investigator. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

In consultation with Principal Investigator, determines overall project objectives and then independently plans, executes, and monitors the conduct of the research project from inception to publication.
Independently develops novel methods of evaluation for new research models. Develops and generates study and experiment protocols and exercises scientific judgment in amending to meet research objectives.
Accurately performs biochemical assays (proteoglycan, DNA, etc) according to experimental protocol, with supervision.
Ensures regulatory compliance, and quality control of the lab and research studies.
Prepares reports to study sponsors and scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
May present research studies at national and international scientific meetings.
Performs other routine laboratory procedures as needed including tissue/cell culture.


Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biological Sciences. Must have an understanding of biological sciences; advanced analytical and writing skills; experience with designing and performing molecular and biochemical assays; and good interpersonal communications skills to maintain rapport with other members of research team and have meaningful discussions regarding experiments.
