RESEARCH ASST 2 Orthopedic Surgery
The Research Assistant 2 under limited direction from a Principal Investigator will conduct and participate in applied research at a moderately high level and to independently develop new methods of analysis and standard operating protocols.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct trace metal analyses using atomic absorption spectrometry and high-resolution inductively-coupled plasma mass spectroscopy in tissues and body fluid samples from human subjects.
Research literature, develop novel element and matrix-specific processes, and formulate laboratory standard operating protocols for analysis of trace metals.
Develop, implement and monitor new laboratory procedures to ensure that Good Laboratory Practices are met for industry-sponsored studies and FDA submissions.
Establish laboratory standards to meet Class 100 Clean Room contamination levels.
Develop strategies for more efficient use of instrumentation and improved laboratory productivity.
Program and conduct statistical analysis of experimental data.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Bachelor's degree with experience required. Several years of research application with a high level of theoretical knowledge and practical application in the field of trace metal analysis. Must have knowledge of relevant literature in the field. Strong organizational, technical and oral communications skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team are required.
