Research Assistant 2 Institute for Healthy Aging

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Applies a thorough knowledge of the research protocols to serve as a resource person to the clinicians and study coordinators
Administers neuropsychological, lifestyle and physical function tests with participants
Performs structured clinical evaluations in participant homes and in an office setting
Enters data on to computerized forms; edits form, which includes checking data for completeness and accuracy
Conducts and collects data via interviews with participants and caregivers in person and on the telephone
Recruit participants and assists in the obtaining of blood, and additional specimens as required by research protocol
Assists with the recruitment and scheduling of subjects, which involves helping the coordinator explain the goals of the study, obtaining informed consent, and arranging for the evaluation of study participants
Maintains patient and participant charts including editing for completeness and accuracy

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Bachelor's degree or five years directly related experience required
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a diverse group of people including elderly patients, caregivers, and staff
Good organizational skills, including attention to detail
Must be able to prioritize and make sound decisions in and out of the field
Computer proficiency
Familiarity with laptop computers required as is experience in using word processing, spreadsheets, databases and other software
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
Previous experience in health services and/or clinical research projects desirable

Off-site travel with-in and around the metropolitan Chicago area required
Position is based out of a Satellite office located in Evergreen Park Il
Access to personal vehicle to accommodate travel needs
This position requires the ability to lift and carry equipment necessary to conduct interviews outside the office. Project needs may require carrying materials in excess of 20 pounds
