~SAFETY OFFICER
We are seeking an experienced professional with the ability to do the following:
Deliver New Employee Orientation and training designated safety topics as requested by
departments and employees.
Develop and implement Environmental Health and Safety policies and training programs.
Perform Industrial Hygiene assessments/sampling for OSHA regulated chemicals and other
exposures, and as requested by the Director of the Occupational Safety Department.
Provide employees and/or supervisors with recommendations regarding Industrial Hygiene
issues in their work environment based upon interpretations and professional judgement.
Conduct patient care area inspections where patients are served at least twice annually.
Conduct non-patient care area inspections in all areas where patients are not served on at
least an annual basis.
Assist departments in the development of Job Hazard Analysis and assist in identifying
engineering controls or administrative controls to remove the hazard.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Safety or related field
preferred.
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in a healthcare or research preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint, or similar application software.
Knowledge of City of Chicago Building Codes, EPA, DOT, IDPH, JC, NFPA regulations.
