PER DIEM CODER
HOUR REQUIREMENT: At least 16 hours per pay period (every two weeks)/8 hours week.


These hours are to be met by working Monday-Friday anytime from 3:30p.m. - 11p.m. You may also work weekends anytime from 6a.m.-11p.m. It is important to know that although you may have signed on to work 16 hours you may not be needed for 16 hours each pay period.

Accurately and independently makes decisions based on specialized knowledge and standard protocol. This includes, but is not limited to coding inpatient and outpatient. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values, and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Assigns ICD-9-CM/CPT-4 diagnostic and procedure codes to patient charts with accuracy and attention to detail.

Abstracts selected data items and enters in codemaster/EPIC software with accuracy and attention to detail

Maintains a log of work performed.

Completes other assigned duties as directed by management


Knowledge: RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS Certification preferred
At least 1 year of Coding experience required.
Experience in medical record coding required.
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology required
