Journeyman A Plumber
General Summary: The Plumber Grade 1 must possess and actively apply the knowledge of high and low pressure steam systems, including the maintenance and operation of high pressure boilers, at a level that would secure licensure. Is proficient in problem solving skills and is capable of independently performing troubleshooting functions regarding maintenance, repair, and construction. The Plumber Grade 1 will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Repair and install all types of plumbing by code. Must have ability to repair all related kitchen equipment.
2. When assigned to install new/used equipment, must be able to operate appropriate construction tools and equipment.
3. Cut flange and thread all types of pipe including stainless, PVC, galvanized, black, etc, also be able to expertly sweat-fit copper using silver solder.
4. Apply all types and sized of fittings and valves to all types of lines and construct anti-siphon devices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The Plumber Grade 1 must meet or exceed the requirements as described.

Knowledge:Basic Elementary School
High School diploma or GED
Must have completed a 4 year apprenticeship program and/or have equal experience.
Knowledge of high and low pressure steam systems.
Knowledge of pumping and fire protection systems.

Skills: Able to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, service manuals, and instructions as necessary to complete all work assignments. Has a working knowledge of the federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations applicable to this trade.

Abilities: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in performance of a job assignment as well possesses the physical strength and dexterity to effectively perform work assignments
