IS Manager Clinical Information Systems

Job Location: Chicago, IL

Summary:

The Manager of Clinical Information Systems (CIS) manages a group of Analysts, Project Leaders and Project Managers that represent Clinical Information Systems in various medical center projects and activities. The group is responsible for implementation, support, maintenance and new projects for Epic Clinical Systems. This group ensures that clinical systems and services are designed and delivered to support business and clinical processes and information needs.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Leads small through large complex projects, which may include several sub-projects led by others

  • Is recognized as a leader in the customer community. Creates solutions that integrate customer needs with IT strategic direction. Assesses skills of others within specialty area. Comfortably handles risk and uncertainty.

  • Supports, translates and promotes technical or strategic direction and processes to IS staff and the Customer. Obtains informal and incomplete information and can act on it in a timely manner. Builds constructive and effective relationships internally and externally.

  • Recommends needs for additional skills or training within the department. Actively seeks and coordinates internal or external training for IS employees. Actively seeks internal or external activities or training to enhance capabilities.

  • The authority in a specialized, critical function or area of IT. Manages vendors related to projects.

  • Planning and execution of support, maintenance and new projects relating to Epic Clinical Systems

  • Development of new services in the management of business and clinical information for supported hospital departments

  • Assistance in individual team member education, goal setting and development

  • Participation in or management of user work groups to aid in system development

  • Development of application specifications, project definitions and work plans

  • Communication of project progress and/or problems

  • Problem solving, ongoing implementation and support of application

  • Development and application of test and audit plans

Qualifications:

  • BS or BA degree in health care, computer science, business of related field

  • Proven information technology project and product experience

  • Four years in a healthcare provider setting

  • One year supervisory experience
