Each faculty member of the College of Nursing contributes to the mission of the college by integrating the roles of teacher, researcher, clinician, and leader. The faculty portion will be negotiated with the Chairperson, based on the needs of the College of Nursing, as well as on your expertise and interest. Workload is determined one year in advance and quarterly assessments are done based on college needs and/or faculty requests.
The Assistant Dean for Generalist Education in the College of Nursing includes the pre- and post-licensure Clinical Nurse Leader programs that lead to the Master of Science in Nursing. The Assistant Dean holds a dual reporting relationship to the Executive Associate Dean and the Dean of the College of Nursing to actualize the mission, vision, and values of the College, University, and Medical Center.
The Assistant Dean for Generalist Education works with the faculty and administration to develop and monitor an innovative, socially responsive curriculum, promotes practice partnerships and excellent environments for learning, admits a diverse student body, and assures program quality in a cost and resource efficient manner. Externally, the Assistant Dean works with the Illinois Department of Professional and Financial Regulation (State Board of Nursing) and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, and other national leadership groups to enact a broad vision of generalist practice, and ensure that the College of Nursing maintains its standing as a world class institution of nursing education.
Minimum of two years of experience in clinical nursing practice required.
Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois required.
Graduate degree in nursing and an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field required.
Eligibility for senior faculty rank.
National Specialty Certification as appropriate required.
Evidence of administrative responsibility, project and/or program development required.
A record of excellence in teaching, including experience with advanced students required.
Demonstrated excellence in communication, networking and relationship building skills at all levels of the organization and with external constituents required. *LI-EL1
