Community/Mental Health

The faculty member of the College of Nursing contributes to the mission of the college by integrating the roles of teacher, researcher, clinician, and leader. The faculty portion will be negotiated with the Chairperson, based on the needs of the College of Nursing and the Nurse Anesthesia Program, as well as on your expertise and interest. Workload is determined one year in advance and quarterly assessments are done based on college needs and/or faculty requests.

Specific Responsibilities
Education
1. Directs the learning of students in clinical and classroom settings.
2. Participates in the student advisement process.
3. Contributes to College and University student recruitment and marketing efforts.
4. Contributes to the development and evaluation of responsive curriculum.
5. Supports and facilitates a culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse educational environment.
6. Supports and, when appropriate, contributes to the Medical Center wide interdisciplinary programs.

Research
1. Generates grants and conducts research.
2. Applies research findings in own practice and teaching.
3. Facilitates research activities of students, colleagues, and members of related disciplines.
4. Disseminates research based knowledge through publications and presentations.

Practice
1. Functions as an expert clinician in area(s) of specialization.
2. Supports continuous quality improvement in patient/client care.
3. Supports faculty practice through expression of clinical expertise via consultation, education, research or practice within and outside of the Medical Center.

Leadership
1. Supports and facilitates the goals of Rush University, the college, and clinical setting.
2. Participates in departmental, and college strategic planning and decision making, and evaluation.
3. Participates in and supports a faculty governance structure.
4. Supports and practices university/corporate team philosophy.
5. Supports a continuous quality improvement and cost effective environment.
6. Supports cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity within the College of Nursing.
7. Participates in the College of Nursing Evaluation program.


Specialty in Community Health

Qualifications
Nurse faculty of a professional nursing program shall have:
1. A doctoral prepared in nursing or related field
2. An individual with a master's degree with a major in nursing
3. At least two years of experience in clinical nursing practice.
4. Current licensure in the State of Illinois.
