ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
General Description The role of the faculty member is to contribute to the educational, scholarship, and service missions of the College of Nursing. Each faculty member's annual assignment in these various roles is negotiated with the department chairperson and is based on the needs of the College of Nursing as well as the faculty member's expertise and interests.

Specific Responsibilities Education 1. Supports and guides students in the learning process. 2. Advises students in academic and career matters. 3. Assists in recruiting quality students. 4. Contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum. 5. Facilitates a diverse educational environment. 6. Contributes to interdisciplinary and interprofessional programs throughout the University and Medical Center. Research and Scholarship 1. Generates new knowledge.
2. Applies evidence in practice and teaching.
2. Facilitates scholarship of students, faculty, and staff. 3. Disseminates scholarship findings through publications and presentations.
4. Participates in research and scholarship activities.
5. Seeks funding for scholarly projects.
6. Provides consultation for clinical practice issues. Practice 1. If applicable, provides direct and indirect nursing services as part of the College's faculty practice.
Leadership 1. Supports the goals of the university, college, and medical center. 2. Participates in departmental and college strategic planning and evaluation. 3. Participates in faculty governance activities. 4. Supports a continuous quality improvement and cost effective environment. 5. Promotes diversity throughout the university. 6. Participates in the College of Nursing and university evaluation programs. Qualifications 1. Doctoral preparation in nursing or related field preferred.
2. At least two years of experience in clinical nursing practice. 3. Eligibility for licensure in the state of Illinois.
