ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER
RUSH UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
Administrative Manager - Division of Hematology/Oncology

General Summary:

The Administrative Manager is responsible to the Administrator for leadership and direction of general office services, for the institute's academic/general administrative functions and supervision of the administrative support staff. This individual will also provide some administrative support to the Director of the Division, the Director of Finance, and the Director of Nursing.

The Administrative Manager must be proficient in all areas related to the day-to-day operation of the administrative assistants and department secretaries. Must provide coverage when necessary, which may include telephone coverage, transcription of medical reports, editing of dictation from the transcription service, copying medical charts and patient related correspondence, preparing appropriate paperwork for pathology requests and communicating with various entities throughout the medical center and outside of the medical center for retrieving medical reports for new patient visits.

Knowledge

* Must have a strong knowledge of medical terminology.
* Must possess strong background in office management in a medical office setting (5+ years experience)
* Five to seven years significant supervisory experience.
* Superior knowledge of information, filing, facility and personnel systems.
* Must have experience in transcribing medical dictation, especially in the area of hematology/oncology.

Skills

* Competencies in basic software packages available to the Division of Hematology/Oncology.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Must have strong team orientation.
* Previous administrative/supervisory experience.

Abilities

* Ability to lead staff, utilizing a continuous quality improvement approach, incorporating development and
setting performance standards, and guiding staff to meet and exceed standards.
* Ability to communicate effectively when representing the Division of Hematology/Oncology within the
department, within RPSLMC, and to significant external parties and vendors.
* Ability to work independently; exhibit flexibility, adjusting to evolving and changing priorities and needs,
assuring uninterrupted function of essential office functions throughout areas of responsibilities.
* Must have the ability to react calmly and effectively in a stressful situation.

Education:

High School Graduate. Some college preferred, but not required. Equivalent experience (Five to seven
years of significant supervisory/management experience in a medical setting).
